Lock Repair

Timpson Security provide a professional lock installation, door opening, lock repair or lock replacement service for all types of doors and windows, including garages, domestic roller-shutters and fire escapes.

Damaged and faulty locks can be opened, repaired or replaced on site. As professional locksmiths we look to repair your lock where possible rather than replace, keeping any potentially costly damage to the surrounding door to a minimum.

Mortice Locks

If you have a damaged or faulty mortice lock our locksmiths can repair your lock. Mortice locks usually fail due to vandalism such as a vandal putting super glue in the lock or some other foreign body in the lock. In some instances the bolt may be bent or damaged usually following an attempted burglary where they have tried to kick the door in.

UPVC Locks

UPVC Locks

If you have a damaged or faulty UPVC door lock it is important to try the doors locking mechanism when the door is in the open position; if the doors bolts slide into the locked position when the door is open the door may just need re-aligning. If the mechanism, sometimes known as a multi point lock or MPL, fails the door will need to be opened by a Locksmith and in most cases the mechanism will have to be replaced.

Timpson Locksmiths can also arrange a repair and care service for UPVC doors, which involves heating the plastic and repairing the damaged door to look like new.

Anti Snap Locks

Lock Snapping is the process of applying pressure to a cylinder, which then snaps the cylinder in two and renders the lock non-functional.  Many homes are at risk of lock snapping, with Euro Cylinder Locks (locks susceptible to snapping) being commonly used in UPVC and double glazed doors in millions of homes across the UK.  Fortunately, our team of qualified and CRB checked locksmiths are on hand to fit your home with anti-snap locks and keep your home safe.

In a case of lock-snapping, it may just be the cylinder that needs replacing, not the whole lock.  We can offer anti-snap cylinder replacements to repair the lock and add an extra level of security with the following lock types:

Thumbturn Cylinder - Ideal for front doors
